Terms and Conditions
These terms are a contract between you and My Pillion. They govern your use of the My Pillion application and the website at mypillion.co.in. Please read them, and the Privacy Policy, before you create an account. This version does not describe any payment, fare collection, wallet, or fee charged by My Pillion. If a later version adds that, it will say so in a revised contract.
Last updated: 3 October 20261. Agreement
By creating an account, by signing in, or by continuing to use My Pillion after the date of these terms, you offer to use the service on these terms and we accept that offer by giving you access. Section 10 of the Indian Contract Act, 1872, requires an agreement to be made by free consent of parties competent to contract, for a lawful consideration and a lawful object. The consideration is the mutual promise to make the matching service available on these terms. If you do not agree, do not create an account and do not use the application.
These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement about the closed-test service they describe. They replace earlier website terms on the same subject, including any earlier description of trip payments or platform fees, for use of the application on and after 3 October 2026.
2. Who we are, and what this service is
My Pillion is operated from Hyderabad, Telangana, India. Correspondence reaches us at J-602, Aparna Kanopy Marigold, Gundlapochampally, Hyderabad, Telangana 500100, and at admin@mypillion.co.in.
My Pillion is a technology platform. It introduces a private vehicle owner who is already making a journey to a person who wants to travel along a compatible part of that journey. We do not own or operate the vehicle. We do not employ, engage, or supervise the rider. We do not carry you. We do not set out to run a taxi, a bike-taxi, or an aggregator service, and you must not use the application as if we did. Every journey is a private arrangement between the rider and the pillion. Section 79 of the Information Technology Act, 2000, treats an intermediary that only provides a communication system, and that observes due diligence, as not liable for third-party information in the circumstances that section describes. We maintain the service on that basis. Nothing in that section, and nothing in these terms, is a promise that a particular ride will be safe, on time, or available.
3. Who may use My Pillion
You must be at least eighteen years old. Section 11 of the Indian Contract Act, 1872, says that a person is competent to contract only if that person is of the age of majority according to the law to which they are subject. Section 3 of the Indian Majority Act, 1875, fixes that age at eighteen years for a person domiciled in India, except where a guardian of the person or property has been appointed by a court. If you are not competent to contract, you may not register.
You must register with a mobile number you control and verify, and with your own identity. One living person may hold one account. The information you give us must be true, and you must correct it when it changes. You may not register on behalf of another person, sell the account, or let another person use the account as if it were theirs. We may refuse a registration, or suspend or close an account, where these terms are broken, where we reasonably believe the account presents a safety risk, or where the law requires us to.
4. The rider’s duties
If you offer a live ride or a posted ride, you confirm that you hold a driving licence that is valid for the vehicle you are using, and that the vehicle is registered and insured as required for you to carry a private co-traveller. Sections 3 and 4 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, require a licence to drive a motor vehicle in a public place, and section 146 requires a policy of insurance that meets the Act before a motor vehicle is used in a public place. Those duties are yours. My Pillion does not issue a licence, does not inspect your vehicle, and does not insure your journey.
You also confirm that the journey is one you are making for your own purpose, that the route is set by your own origin and destination, and that any detour to collect a pillion is incidental. You will not solicit strangers on the road, ply for hire, or use the application as a substitute for a commercial permit. You are responsible for complying with the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, the rules made under it, and any state rule that applies to the use you actually make of the vehicle. If your use of the vehicle needs a permit or a commercial policy of insurance, you must have it before you carry a pillion. Sharing a ride through My Pillion does not create that permission.
You will ride within the law, without impairment by alcohol or any drug that affects driving, and you will treat the pillion with ordinary care. You will not start the trip until the PIN shown in the application has been verified, where the flow requires a PIN. The PIN is how both of you confirm that the person at the pickup is the person who was matched. Bypassing it is a breach of these terms.
5. The pillion’s duties
If you request a ride, you confirm that the pickup and drop you enter are places you can lawfully be, and that you will be ready at the pickup you named. You will verify the rider against the details in the application before you get on the vehicle, and you will not share the PIN with anyone who is not the matched rider. You are responsible for your own conduct during the journey. A helmet or other protection required by law for a pillion on a two-wheeler is your responsibility to wear where the law requires it, and the rider’s responsibility not to carry you in breach of that law.
6. How a match works
The application looks for a rider whose live position and destination are compatible with the pillion’s pickup and drop, within the limits of the matching rules in the software. A match is an introduction, not a guaranteed seat, until the rider accepts and the booking is created. Either person may decline or cancel while the application still allows it. We may expire an offer that is not answered in time, so that the seat is not held forever. We may also stop showing a rider whose location has gone stale, because a dot that has not moved for a long time is not a reliable introduction.
Posted rides, where the product offers them, are a plan for a later departure. They are still a private arrangement between users. We do not promise that a posted ride will depart, that the rider will arrive, or that the route will be unchanged.
7. Location, chat, and what you may not do
While you are the rider on an active live ride, your position is shared so that matching and the live map can work. That sharing is described in the Privacy Policy. You must not use another person’s position, phone number, photograph, or chat to contact them for a purpose that has nothing to do with the ride, and you must not publish that information outside the application.
You will not use My Pillion to harass, threaten, defraud, or sexually exploit anyone, to discriminate unlawfully, or to carry anything illegal. You will not upload a photograph that you do not have the right to use, and you will not attempt to break, scrape, or overload the service. The Information Technology Act, 2000, including its provisions on damage to computer systems, identity theft, and publication of obscene or private material, applies to conduct on the service in the same way it applies to other computer resources. The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, applies to conduct that is an offence under that Code, including violence, criminal intimidation, and sexual harassment, whether or not it also involves the application. We will cooperate with a lawful request from a competent authority, and we may suspend an account on a credible safety report while we look at it.
As an intermediary we are required, by Rule 3(1) of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, to publish rules of use, to tell you not to host prohibited information, and to act on a court order or a notified government direction within the time that Rule requires. These terms are that publication. If you see content or conduct that breaks these terms, write to the Grievance Officer. We will acknowledge the complaint within twenty-four hours and aim to resolve it within fifteen days, which is the period in Rule 3(2).
8. No payment service in this version
This version of My Pillion does not collect a fare, a platform fee, a wallet balance, or any other payment. We do not hold money for you, and we are not a payment system, an escrow, or a party to any private arrangement you may make with another user about the cost of a journey. If two users decide between themselves, outside the application, how to share a cost, that decision is their own contract. My Pillion is not in it, cannot reverse it, and does not record it as a payment we processed. Do not treat any figure the application may once have shown, or may show as a distance estimate, as an invoice from us.
9. Safety
You are responsible for deciding whether to get into a particular vehicle with a particular person. The existence of a profile, a rating, a PIN, or a live dot is not a representation by us that a person is trustworthy, licensed, insured, or sober. If you are in immediate danger, call 112 before you contact us. After you are safe, report the ride to admin@mypillion.co.in so that we can preserve the record and act on the account.
10. The service is provided as available
We provide My Pillion on an “as available” basis, particularly during a closed test. Matching can fail. Maps can be wrong. Notifications can be late. A phone can lose signal. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a journey you cannot afford to miss. To the extent the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, or any other law, gives you a right that a contract cannot take away, that right remains. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by our own negligence where the law does not allow that liability to be excluded.
Subject to the previous paragraph, we are not liable for the driving, the vehicle, the route, the conduct of another user, or a loss that arises only because two users met through the application. Our aggregate liability arising out of the service, other than liability that cannot legally be limited, is limited to one thousand rupees. That cap is a genuine allocation of risk for a free matching service that does not take payment.
11. Your responsibility to us
You will indemnify us against a claim, loss, or reasonable legal cost that arises from your breach of these terms, from your misuse of the service, or from your breach of the Motor Vehicles Act or any other law in the course of a journey arranged through the application. This indemnity is limited to the extent a court finds that we caused the loss by our own fraud or by negligence that cannot be shifted. You will cooperate with a reasonable request for information about a safety report that concerns your account.
12. Suspension and ending the account
You may stop using My Pillion at any time. You may ask us to delete the account in the way the Privacy Policy describes, including from the profile screen and by email. We may suspend or close the account if you break these terms, if we reasonably believe there is a safety risk, or if the law requires it. Closing the account does not erase a ride record we are required to keep for a safety investigation or a legal duty. Provisions that by their nature should survive, including liability, indemnity, and governing law, survive the end of the account.
13. Changes, governing law, and complaints
We may update these terms. The date at the top will change, and the new text will be posted at this URL. If you continue to use My Pillion after that date, you accept the updated terms. If you do not accept them, stop using the service and ask us to delete the account.
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Subject to any jurisdiction that a statute gives to a particular forum, the courts at Hyderabad, Telangana, have exclusive jurisdiction. A complaint about the service, about another user, or about your personal data should go first to the Grievance Officer, Kulvanth, at admin@mypillion.co.in, telephone +91 76589 99944, at the Hyderabad address in section 2. We will acknowledge it within twenty-four hours and aim to resolve it within fifteen days. You may also use a remedy that a statute gives you and that these terms cannot take away, including a complaint under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, where that Act applies.
